Electric Power Training Center

The Electric Power Training Center is owned and operated by Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), a sub-agency under the U.S. Department of Energy. The EPTC provides high quality power system operations training. Courses are offer from a wide range of training from power plant operators to dispatcher. The center has a unique Miniature Power System (MPS) that is self-contained and fully operational power system simulator. The system includes three generators, a wind farm, four substations, hundreds of miles of transmissions lines, and variety of loads spread throughout the system.

Learn insights on how power operations are conducted and get a behind-the-scenes look at the equipment that runs the system. Get a briefing of the function of the facility, followed by the tour and live look at the operations of the use of the Miniature Power System (MPS).
